latest food trip

... and i neglected my food blog again. LOL!

here's my latest and not so latest finds.

i am one of my mom's fan on home cooked meals. when in the mood, my mom can really whip up some mean killer dishes.

here's her chicken sopas.

and here are my breakfast food trip at home =D

salted egg, tomato, fried eggplant with toyomansi and adobong manok with coffee. yummy!

corned beef and fried rice. of course with black coffee!

on grandparents' day, we dined out at pizza hut. i tried this drink: Tropical Fizz - Iced-cold 7-Up bursting with cherry & kiwi flavors. It looked great, i commend them for that. it's literally TOO sweet. thumbs down for the taste.

for one of our team dinners, we splurged and dined at Red Crab by Seafood club in Greenbelt. remind me again not to eat here. it's expensive and food is not that great. i would rather eat at Dampa. sigh!

red crab's schezuan crab:

after dinner at red crab, jm and i went out for some girl fun at barcino's. wine is great and i tried one of their croquettes. i used to love this when i was still in minnesota and SOLERA was one of our main hang-out's at downtown for drinks. it was okay but the crab meat was a bit itchy on the tongue. i'd try the other viands there, looks interesting. =)

i finally tried the flavored san mig light beers. apple tasted like diluted zesto apple wahahaha! lemon was so so. tanduay ice is still better.

people's palace! finally! i was able to dine here LOL! whenever ling invites me here, something always comes up. so after eons of trying, here are their great food finds. the prawn, pomelo and coconut salad chicken is divine! yammy!

other must try is the chicken in pandan leaves. of course i had pad thai! pad thai forever! yammy!

for the latest banapple finds, i tried one of their pasta: baked creamy cheesy penne. yummy! i like! i'm excited to try more of their viands.

that's it so far for my food finds. i would have more once i visit ling for lunch out at ayala triangle. =)

august food finds

we celebrated my son's 18th month last august 7 and i asked one of my mom's friends to cook for lunch. we had a simple menu for the celebration -- pork caldereta, fish fillet, fried chicken and buttered veggies. so far, so good. =) dessert was a mocha dedication cake from red ribbon.

CALDERETA

VEGGIES

FISH FILLET AND FRIED CHICKEN

on one of our PTL sessions (don't ask what PTL means haha!), we had lunch at recipe's. the gising-gising and general's chicken was of course included on the main course. yummy!

GISING GISING

GENERAL'S CHICKEN

after recipes, we passed by bakers fresh and some from the group bought bread. i tried the cheese and spinach turn over. very disappointing. =(

still, the sight of muffins and cookies perked me up. plus the smell of freshly baked bread is divine. so i also enjoyed gorging these goodies with my eyes. next time i will bake one of these. =)

one of our recent and favorite food hang-out after badminton is Oks Manoks, located at Pioneer center. our usual order consists of Pecho (the part of the chicken where the wing is attached), with ensalada and salted egg as side dish. this also includes fried rice with garlic flakes. yummy!!! burp!

for our team building this quarter, we had dinner at dampa! we went to the one on metrowalk (although the best one is still the one located at coastal road, next time we'll go there). seafood love it is!

SEAWEED

SWEET AND SOUR LAPU-LAPU

BUTTERED SHRIMP

SPICY CRAB

CALAMARES

BAKED TAHONG (mussels)

we also had sinigang na tuna belly sa miso, liempo and grilled pusit, but i only posted the pictures of the ones that i really enjoyed. =)

my last food find is at figaro coffee shop. alleluia!!! there is another coffee shop thank you!!! figaro is located at cybergate 3, still it's another coffee shop besides starbux!!! finally! ja and i planned to avail of the tuyo flakes that they serve for breakfast and i also read good reviews about it. unfortunately, they already phased it out. waaaaa! so we availed of their beef tapa and corned beef breakfast. sigh! it was still good, but i was looking forward to tuyo. oh well. maybe i will find some other shop or restaurant that will serve this.

from simple to complex

meaning simple home cooking until complex dishes delivered for lunch! =D i will be randomly rambling about my recent food finds so bear with me. =D

last time i had this, i was a kid! so i was surprised when my seatmate was eating this.

iced gems!

i've only cooked twice after a looonnggg time of hibernating from the kitchen. i cooked sweet spaghetti one weekend for the little one, using ground chicken instead of pork. it was okay and the little one loved it. =)

simple cooking means fried bacon! don't you just love the smell of bacon? nyam nyam! of course i can't have this everyday. LOL!

one of my recent food finds is banapple! ling and ja recommended this. i tried the banofee pie and the lasagna roll ups. two thumbs up!!!

the last of my food finds is hotel food. we had an event at the shangri-la hotel in edsa. their food choices never fail my taste buds. i had the salmon, snapper, german potato salad and ribs. sorry i forgot the specific names of the dishes hehe! they also had french onion soup and it was okay, not that spectacular.

i also took a shot of my seatmate's plate. now that's what we call a buffet plate! =D

this is the shot of the iced tea. it looks pretty and that's it. the usual iced tea. =D sorry i can't resist to quip that.

amici and dulcinea

i tried one of amici's seafood pasta. sooooo divine! yum! two thumbs up! this is a must try when you order from amici. =)

Spaghetti Red Vongole e Gamberetti Pasta - pasta served with special red sauce and bounties of the sea.

this weekend my sister and i had lunch at Dulcinea after my son's doctor's appointment. we had pork barbecue and beef salpicao. pork barbecue was so so. the salpicao was perfect! paired with fried rice and buttered potatoes -- just perfect! another must try. =)

and that is how it looks like after we've eaten part of it hehe! that's it for my recent food finds.

cab cafe @ kapitolyo

c/o mheann -- her birthday treat. thanks! =D

in left to right, top to bottom order:

1.) carbonara
2.) pomodoro
3.) pavlova
4.) pizza
5.) pinoy deli
6.) muscovado sugar

my top food finds are pavlova and pinoy deli pasta. super yummy! i forgot the flavor of the pizza hehe! pinoy deli has tinapa, sardines and salted egg, the pinoy style pasta. i love the way the was able to blend the flavor of tinapa and sardines. for dessert, the pavlova was super! and i am biased because of the mangoes inside the pavlova hehehe!

price is a bit high for the serving size. still a good find. =)

fish and mango

i tried another viand at Ristras as i always get either the chicken enchilada, burrito or the 9 layer dip/nachos. this time i tried the BAJA style fish tacos. it was okay, but not something that i would always crave for.

mangoes are one of my faves! good thing there is a mango farm stall at the mall where i can always avail of this craving. =) i got the mango-kiwi combination as strawberry was not available.

that's it so far for my food finds. not yet inspired to whip up my concoction. =)

here and there

this is one very long food blog again. =D sorry!

i haven't been up to date with my recent food finds. so here's my recent collation on the what's and the what not's.

BANCHETTO - this has been one of of the staple food finds here in the office. i already blogged about chilli cheese sticks, isaw and liempo before. i don't have a picture yet of the latest addiction Ja and I have recently -- Ilocos empanada!

this is how banchetto looks like on a normal banchetto night:

and this is the stall of where we get the chilli cheese sticks:

STARBUCKS - our only coffee fix so far at the office. i do wish that there would be another coffee shop near our area!

one of my favorite pastry is the corned beef pandesal. this is a staple item for me for breakfast. =)

my recent find is the 5 cheese turnover! yum! thanks to nikka -- i read this on her blog and tried it for myself. i loved the way basil was used on this one. and since i'm a cheese lover, this will be one of those food cravings that i can easily avail of if i'm in the mood for something cheesy -- literally speaking. hehehe!

CIBO - i do recommend this if you're looking for an italian fix. Ling and I went out for lunch -- 3 weeks ago? hehe! we decided to go healthy!

for starters, we ordered Insalata Nizzarda - Greens, tuna, black olives, tomato, cucmber, wine vinaigrette. this is good! two thumbs up! the wine vinaigrette is perfect. plus it's tuna based so no guilt on indulging on the meat. =D Ling ate the olives -- i don't like olives. =P

main course was of course pasta! we went vegetarian and ordered Spaghettini Ala Primavera - Asparagus, zucchini, eggplant, mushroom, red and yellow peppers, cream. Another two thumbs up! the cream was just right -- not too heavy for the taste buds.

i tried their iced tea - Limone - which is mainly lemon and fresh mint leaves. it has a hint of chai. not bad.

that's it so far for my food finds.

for my recent cooking escapades, i don't have time lately (and the inspiration as well) to whip up an elaborate concoction. i experimented with our microwave at the office and voila! instant lomi with egg! back in minnesota, i cook this one during winter. soup is just soooo good when it's cold. =)

i was also craving for omelette this weekend so i decided to create my own. i really need to practice on how to flip an omelette. LOL! and i have to use a non-stick pan. i created a veggie omelette which was edible so far. LOL!

i am planning to cook one that has the works -- bacon, ham, cheese, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes. maybe when i get inspired in the next few weeks. ;-)

and i am also planning to try again my version of chicken cordon bleu. i need to buy a meat pounder for the chicken rolls. oh, and find (and alter as well =D ) a breading recipe that i can use for frying.
